Exploring traditional folksongs in theory and practice

Am Mittwoch, 9. Juli 2025 durften wir im Rahmen des Internationalen Kongresses der Musikbibliotheken, -archive und -dokumentationszentren (IAML) Musikbibliothekarinnen und -bibliothekare aus aller Welt im Salzburger Volksliedwerk begrüßen. Unter dem Titel "Exploring traditional folksongs in theory and practice" vermittelten Elisabeth Radauer und Waltraud Stögner traditionelle Lieder und Jodler. Dank der Musikalität der Teilnehmenden konnten sowohl dreistimmige Lieder als auch heterophone Jodler erlernt werden. Abschließend gab Archivleiter Wolfgang Dreier-Andres eine Einführung in die Geschichte des Salzburger Volksliedwerkes und die Archivbestände.

On Wednesday, 9 July 2025, we welcomed music librarians from all over the world to the Salzburger Volksliedwerk as part of the International Congress of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML). Under the title ‘Exploring traditional folksongs in theory and practice’, Elisabeth Radauer and Waltraud Stögner taught traditional songs and yodelling. Thanks to the musicality of the participants, both three-part songs and heterophonic yodelling could be learned. Finally, archive manager Wolfgang Dreier-Andres gave an introduction to the history of the Salzburger Volksliedwerk and the archive holdings.
